There was a tragic story in the paper today about a man killed in a fatal Cascade Township car accident on December 16 in Kent County. According to the Michigan State Police, an 18-year-old Grand Rapids man was riding as a passenger on westbound I-96, near the 47-mile marker and Whitneyville Road SE, when the driver of the vehicle allegedly lost control, crossed the median and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle. The 18-year-old passenger died on the scene. The 18-year-old driver of the westbound vehicle and the 54-year-old female driver of the eastbound vehicle were both taken to Spectrum Health for treatment of serious injuries. Police are still investigating this accident.
I am very sorry to hear about this tragic accident and offer the family of the deceased passenger my most sincere condolences and best wishes. I hope the other injured parties have a full and complete recovery without any permanent deficits.
