I posted only a few minutes ago about a Grand Rapids bicycle accident.  A news report indicated that the bicyclist was in critical condtion and a family member commented that he had passed away.  An update on the news internet site indicated that the biker did pass away. 

My thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends.  This is a tragic loss that should have never happened.

I read a tragic story about a Grand Rapids bicycle accident that caused critical injuries to bicyclist after being struck by a car.  The accident occurred after 3:00 a.m. near Van Andel Arena.  Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

The story was posted on the Grand Rapids News online site.  At the time pf publication, the story indicated the bicyclist was hospitalized with critical injuries.  A reader comment from a family member indicated that he had passed away.   If this is true, my thoughts and condolences go out to his family. If this is not true, I wish the biker a full and speedy recovery.

The reader comments below the story are quite interesting.  Several readers blame the bikers for riding in the dark at night, while others blame the driver.  Because the matter is still being investigated, it is really hard to take a position on who was at fault based upon the limited facts in the article.  I hope that the police can sort this matter out.
