Muskegon Township Car Bicycle Pedestrian Accident

I read a story in the news today about a tragic Muskegon Township Car Bicycle Pedestrian Accident that happened yesterday. According to police, a boy on his bike and his family, one on a bike and one on foot, were waiting to cross the street at the intersection of Apple Avenue and Walker Road when two vehicles allegedly collided at the intersection.

One of the vehicles spun out of control and slammed into the boy and his family, leaving the boy critically injured. His sister and father were seriously injured. The passenger in the car that hit the family was also seriously injured. Police are still investigating the accident at this time.

I am very sorry to hear about this accident and wish all the injury victims a speedy and complete recovery.

Our Michigan car accident lawyers advise accident victims of their legal rights.  For this type of auto accident in Michigan, the injured parties can submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover their medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured parties can claim these benefits even if he did not have a Michigan automobile insurance policy.

In addition, the injury victims may be able to file a lawsuit against the persons determined to be at fault in the auto accident. The insurance company for the driver must still cover any injuries. In this lawsuit, the injured parties can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim.  Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Grand Rapids Bicycle Accident

I read a tragic story about a Grand Rapids bicycle accident that caused critical injuries to bicyclist after being struck by a car.  The accident occurred after 3:00 a.m. near Van Andel Arena.  Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

The story was posted on the Grand Rapids News online site.  At the time pf publication, the story indicated the bicyclist was hospitalized with critical injuries.  A reader comment from a family member indicated that he had passed away.   If this is true, my thoughts and condolences go out to his family. If this is not true, I wish the biker a full and speedy recovery.

The reader comments below the story are quite interesting.  Several readers blame the bikers for riding in the dark at night, while others blame the driver.  Because the matter is still being investigated, it is really hard to take a position on who was at fault based upon the limited facts in the article.  I hope that the police can sort this matter out.

Rights After A Bicycle Accident

In such an accident, the injured biker is entitled to Michigan No-Fault Insurance benefits regardless of who is determined to be at fault in the accident.  Even if the biker did not have an auto insurance policy, a claim can be made for benefits.  If the motorist is determined to be at fault, additional claims can be made for personal injuries suffered in the accident.
